Our son Blue was my shining star!
When Blue was in his last year at Eaglebrook (middle school)
Wednesday evenings were reserved for outings.
One night his dorm had plans to go to a mall.
After a long wait the teacher arrived and cancelled the
outing. Blue was so angry that the only thing he
could think of to do was to pull down his pants and moon her.
And so he did.
Since then I have wanted to have blue moon
played at his wedding for my dance with him.
Since I can no longer do that - I would like to
ask a favor of you. Whenever you notice
a blue moon in the sky would you please join me
in saying a little prayer for him?
I've said that Blue was my shining star but, sadly,
over the past few years that star grew dimmer.
I didn't know whether I had the courage
to get up here today and speak.
But I feel the need to speak to all of his friends.
I know you loved Blue and therefore I must ask you
now, from the bottom of my heart, to honor his memory
by not following in his recent footsteps.
Hold on to life when it is easier to let go. And by keeping your
own star bright. (September 9th, 1996)
