Health Shake
I have actually been drinking these shakes for the last 8 months every morning. I actually enjoy drinking them, although I think after you read this recipe you might question my taste buds.
1) Flakseed Oil: Add 1 tablespoon. Do not add any more than this. Just
trust me...no more than a table spoon. This has Omega3 Fatty Acids which
help lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol.
2) Tomatoes: 3 very small cherry tomatoes. Contains lycopene anticarcinogen
3) Baby Spinach - Half a handful. Anticarcinogen. Vitamin A and Vitamin C.
4) Broccoli - Just put in one small tree. Vitamin C, Vitamin A. Calcium.
Anticarcinogen.
5) Oatmeal - 2 Heaping handfuls or raw oatmeal. Unsweetened..unflavored. Instant
or regular will do. Soluble fiber will lower cholesterol
6) Olive Oil - Again just a table spoon. You can go over but it is expensive.
Lowers cholesterol. Vitamin E.
7) Whey Protein Powder - One heaping scoop. Be careful...the cheap stuff
contains high fructose corn syrup. Get the one with no artificial flavors. You
will have to go to a fast food store for this stuff. Whey protein is one of the
best you can buy.
8) Low-fat plain yogurt - One heaping tablespoon. Calcium, calcium, calcium.
Careful...a lot of yogurts add high fructose corn syrup as sweetener. Some very
popular brands are the worst about this ingredient so stear clear.
9) Low-fat 1% milk - I fill the blender with this first until it covers the
blades of the blender. This is the same Vitamin A and calcium.
10) 1 banana - Riper is better. If you put it in green, it will ruin the taste.
Potassium.
11) Almonds - 1/2 handful. Monounsaturated fats. Vitamin E, calcium, and
protein. Get the plain almonds without salt or sugar. Don't bother with salted
ones.
12) Frozen Rasberries - antioxidants, vitamin C, fiber. Hides everything else.
Add 1 handful.
13) Frozen blueberries - antioxidants, vitamin C, fiber. Hides everything else.
Add 1 handful.
14) Frozen strawberries - antioxidants, vitamin C, fiber. Hides everything else.
Add 1 handful.
15) 1 tablespoon low-sodium peanut butter (optional) - I add this occassionally.
Protein. Monounsaturated fats.
16) Wheat Grass - The secret ingredient. It has everything....I mean everything.
Buy it still growing out of a health store and it will last you a month. Add one
handful.
17) Wheat germ - Just a pinch. Soluble fiber. Other than this I do not know what
it does but it sounds awfully healthy doesn't it? :)
18) Baby Carrots - 3 for Vitamin A.
19) Orange Juice - Get the calcium fortified. Vitamin C. Only about 1/2 cup will
do.
I do not add water cress but I hear it is a good anticarcinogen. If you are
really brave you can add garlic but it will taste really bad.
