Dipboye, Eleanor
16 May 1879
Death of Mrs. Eleanor Dipboye, wife of Rev. Jonathon Dipboye, who resides near Frankton, this county, and whose death occurred May 5, 79.
Mrs. Dipboyes sickness was of short duration having a severe attack of lung fever, which only lasted for perhaps three days. The deceased was the daughter of Robert and Mary Bartlet, was born in Monongahela County Virgina, March 2 1822 and moved with her parents to Delaware county, this State, in 1833 and was married to Jonathon Dipboye in 1837. with whom she was permitted to live for a period of over forty-one years.
Mrs. D. was a woman of sterling integrity and her every day walk and conversation while she was permitted to live has left the testimony for her friends and relatives, that she was what she professed to be, being always ready to do any thing that would benefit suffering humanity. She was loved and respected by all who knew her, being one of those kind, social women that made her company pleasant to all whom she came in contact with. Her memory no doubt will be preserved by her associates of former years from the fact that her life has been an example for others to imitate. Her manner and walk was not only that of virtue and godliness away from home, but she set a worthy example before her family, which was the greatest of all. She was always anxious for her husband to perform his duties as a Minister of the Gospel. She spent many lonesome hours in the early part of their married life, whi1e he was away preaching.
She leaves a large circle of friends and relatives, and a bereaved husband and children, to mourn her loss, but no doubt their loss being her gain. She leaves eleven children, ten of whom were present at her funeral, to witness the closing scenes of a fond mother and great counselor.
Mrs. D. joined the Christian Church in the year 1845, and was baptised by Elder William Hendrix and remained a faithful member of the same until her death. Mrs. D. will be greatly missed by her friends, who are many. She will be missed in the Church not only of her own denomination, but others also, as she was willing to unite with all Christians.
The funeral services took place May 6 at the school near the home of the deceased and was conducted by Rev. W. G. Parker, to a large and attentive audience of friends and mourners who listened attentively to the remarks that were offered from 1st Thessalonians, 4th chapter, 13th and 14th verses,
but I would not have you to be ignorant brethren concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope, for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
Broad is the road that leads to death.
And thousands walk together there.
But wisdom shows a narrow path.
With here and there a traveler.

Loudermilk, Joseph M
Joseph M. Loudermilk died suddenly of heart failure. Mr. Loudermilk walked down town and spent a part of the forenoon in the business section. He was on his way home when the sudden summons came, he fell to the walk, in front of the Ewing residence on Bender Street. Medical aid was hastily summoned, but the spark of life had fled. Mr. Loudermilk had long been known as one of the good citizens of the community. He had been in ill health for some I time, but his condition was not regarded as serious and his death was a shock to relatives and friends.
"And the night shall be filled with music, And the cares that infest the day Shall fold their tents like the Arabs, And as silently steal away." And so beside the silent sea, I wait with muffled oar; No harm from Him will come to me, On ocean or on shore.''
Joseph M. Loudermilk, the son of Joseph and Minerva Loudermilk, Was born in Clark County, Indiana on December 28, 1849 and answered the Master's Call to his eternal home on February 8, 1924. His age was 74 year's, 1 month and 10 days. His mother died when he was just a young boy and a few years later he came to Starke county to live and has lived here continuously since then. He became a christian when just a young man and followed the way laid out by his Lord and Savior. He and his wife had been in members of the Knox Christian Church for many years. He was united in marriage to Nancy C. Clements, on August 1, 1876 and to this union four children were I born Joseph W,, the first son, who preceded his mother into that Better Land, Albert and Guy, of Knox and Clara May Eisenberg, of San Antonio, Texas. There is one other son, Gary I Loudermilk, by a former marriage, who lives in Iowa. He was a man well known and well a respected by this entire community, a man who was generous to a fault. Today even the children are paying him a great tribute, because it is not every man who loved and was loved in return by the children as "Uncle Joe" was loved. And so, as "Uncle Joe," we shall miss him, whether young or old, and feel that his place in our lives shall be hard to fill. Besides these grieving Sons and daughter, there are eleven grand children and a host of sorrowing relatives and sympathizing friends. Mr. Loudermilk leaves two sisters, Mrs. Emma Collins, of Edinberg, Indiana, Mrs. Clara Borden, of Brownstown, Indiana and one half sister, who is 93 years old, Mrs. Mary C. Wagoner also of Brownstown, Indiana. His only brother, Thomas answered his country's call and died for its Unity and Conservation during the Civil War.
