This platformer has a better storyline than Ratchet & Clank. It sucks you in more and has more plot twists. There is more drama, whereas is Ratchet & Clank it was go here and do this and go there and do that with some cooky characters. This one put meaning behind the methods.

Some new vehicles to use: dune buggies. Some are for speed, some shoot machine guns, some do super jumps, all will need to be mastered to complete the game. In Jak II they had hovering rocket cars, and this time dune buggies give another extra dimension to the game as well as giving it more variety.

There are some well-place continue points. The player never has to go back too far.

You can jump across platforms, hang glide, dune buggy, shoot guns, and much more. This game has lots of variety.

Coming back to New Haven and having to revisit the same sites as in Jak II gives the game a naustalgic quality. It is also a cheap way to add more levels to the game.

The camera control is worse than in Ratchet & Clank. There is no re-center button, and, well, that's basically the main thing that's missing.

The color scheme sometimes makes it difficult to see where things are. Not enough dramatic color contrast, and it looks kind of blurry.

This one doesn't have the jump in number of improvements that Jak II did. Jak II added the GTA car stealing thing, gun shooting, board surfing, and some cool graphical improvements. This one didn't make a leap nearly as big.

The tube car challenge, where you have to go from the desert back to the catacombs of New Haven via a tube, is a challenge that does not give the player enough time to react to what he sees on the screen. Thank god they made it a short challenge.
