 |

DVDs
 | Saving Private RyanWhat can I say that hasn't been said already? Anyone interested in the period must own this DVD. This is the 60th anniversary edition of this amazing film, with a bonus disk and a nice box. |
 | Band of BrothersAnother amazing film, a true epic. The bonus disk, "We Stand Alone Together" is alone worth the price. It comes in a very nice tin box. |
| The Longest DayA true classic, covering the entire D-Day operation, from all sides. It still holds up even after all this time. |
 | The Eagle Has LandedAn interesting fictional movie, it has a very good battle scene with Rangers using actual tactics, instead of running around like idiots. A bit far fetched, but quite entertaining. |
Books
Spearheading D-DayAn outstanding book filled with many period photos, and re-enactors wearing correct uniforms. A bit esoteric at times, but very much worth getting. |
1944 Americans in BrittanyAnother outstanding book from the first author, covers the often overlooked but very tough fight for the Brittany peninsula and the city of Brest. Has many exclusive photos, re-enactors in correct uniforms, all in all an outstanding work. |
Beyond ValorNarratives by veterans of America's elite WWII units, from the landing in North Africa to the 5th Rangers liberation of the Buchenwald death camp. |
Rangers in World War IIA good general coverage of the six Ranger battalions, covering the entire war from North Africa to the jungles of the Philippines. |

D-DayThe definitive account of the D-Day invasion, impressive in scope and detail. |
Band of BrothersThe book version goes into a lot more detail than the movie, it's well worth getting both. |
Ranger BattalionAn ok book, it covers pretty much the same ground as "Rangers in World War II", with a few more details. Get it if you must have every Ranger book, otherwise find it at the library. |
Panzer LeaderHeinz Guderian was the premier German Panzer general, and this work is a fascinating look into the mind of a military genius, and his views of some of the leading Nazi personalities. |
Panzer CommanderHans von Luck was a very able German commander who fought from the beginning to the end of the war, in every theater. He has fascinating insights about his opponents. |
Hitler's Panzers EastA very convincing theory, backed up by tons of facts, that the Germans could have defeated the Soviets, and won the war, in August of 1941. |
Red Storm on the ReichThe Red Army's march to Berlin, and it wasn't pretty. He tries to keep it factual, but the horror can be read between the lines. |
