erman lieutenant general who began the war as division-level commander of the 1st Guard Reserves under Gallwitz' elite Guard Reserve Corps (attached to Second Army). Following the War of the Frontiers, his unit was sent to besiege the fortress at Namur, Belgium and was then transferred to the Eighth Army on the Eastern Front. Albrecht served as corps commander during the last two years of the war. Albrecht also received the honorary rank of General der Infanterie in 1919.
