Max Paul Otto Hofmann
 
(9.3.1854 - 28.11.1918)
place of birth:  Meiningen, Thüringen  (Thuringia)


Not to be confused with General Max Hoffmann, Hindenburg's Eighth Army deputy chief of staff...at war's outbreak, this lieutenant general commanded the 19th Division attached to Emmich's X. Corps (Second Army). For the final three year's of the war, Hofmann served as commander of  the XXXVIII. Reserves (also known as Beskidenkorps). He took ill in September 1918 and died in the field hospital shortly after war's end.
