Karl Freiherr von Plettenberg  
(18.12.1852 - 10.2.1938)
place of birth:  Neuhaus bei Paderborn, Westfalen  (Westphalia)


German baron and general of infantry who commanded the Guard Corps during the first two years of the war. He also served as Kaiser Wilhelm II's Adjutant General. One of his sons served as a lieutenant during the Battle of St Quentin, where he fell on 29 August 1914. His other son Kurt was part of the 20 July 1944 plot to kill Adolf Hitler. Karl von Plettenberg died on 10 February 1938 at Bückeberg where the street Plettenbergstraße is named after him.
