Johannes Karl Louis Richard von Eben
 
(1855 - 30.6.1924)
place of birth:  Preussisch Mark  (Przezmark - East Prussia)


Promoted to general of infantry at war's outbreak, Eben received command of X. Reserves. By summer 1915, he commanded I. Corps and  was awarded the Pour le Merite for outstanding military leadership in Galicia and cooperation with the Austrian Second Army to halt the Brusilov Offensive (1916). Also distinguished himself at the Battle of Zborov. He later led the Ninth Army with distinction during the occupation of Romania (1917-18) and briefly commanded Army Detachment-A in Alsace (1918). Von Eben was ennobled in June of 1906. He died on 30 June 1924.
