General Carl von Horn served in the Royal Bavarian Army and was also Bavarian Minister of War from 1905 through 1912. He was the son of Bavarian General der Infanterie Carl Freiherr von Horn and his spouse Maria Magdalena von Auernheimer. As a newly commissioned Leutnant, von Horn fought against Prussia during the Austro-Prussian War of 1866. He later fought alongside his Prussian counterparts during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71, receiving the Iron Cross 2nd Class for his actions at Villepion. Prior to his appointment as War Minister in 1905, von Horn served as Bavarian Prinz Arnulf's I. Bavarian Army Corps chief of staff. He died at the age of 76 in Munich.
