Hans Konstantin von Kretschmann (21.8.1832 - 31.3.1899) place of birth: Charlottenburg Prussian general Hans von Kretschmann began his military career in 1863 when he joined Leib-Grenadier-Regiment Nr.8 in Frankfurt an der Oder. After seeing action during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71, von Kretschmann was transferred to Posen where he served for five years as General Hugo von Kirchbach's 5th Army Corps chief of staff. In 1896, Kaiser Wilhelm II awarded von Kretschmann with the Roten Adler Orden I. Klasse (Order of the Red Eagle, First Class, with Oak Cluster and Swords). He died in 1899 in his hometown of Berlin. |
