Friedrich Heinrich Albrecht, Prince of Prussia (4.10.1809 - 14.10.1872) place of birth: Königsberg, Ostpreußen (Kaliningrad, Russia) Prince of Prussia and soldier and Generaloberst. He was the fourth and youngest child of King Friedrich Wilhelm III and Queen Luise von Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Albrecht's two brothers were also Prussian Kings, Friedrich Wilhelm IV 1840-61, and Wilhelm I 1861-88 (German Emperor beginning in 1871). Albrecht's son Friedrich Wilhelm Albrecht also served in the Prussian forces, attaining the rank of General Feldmarschall. Albrecht joined military service in 1819 and was a cavalry commander during the Austro-Prussian War of 1866. He later served as a cavalry division commander in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71. He eventually retired from military service at the rank of Generaloberst. |
