General von Wittich served as an adjutant general to
Kaiser Wilhelm II. before being dismissed in 1892. Von Wittich was the
son Wilhelm von Wittich, a minister in the Imperial Military Court, and
his wife Christine Mildebrandt. Adolf later married the former Anna
Schade in 1866.
Adolf von Wittich began his military career in 1855, serving much
of his time on the Great General Staff in Berlin, as well as on the
general staff of the Fourth Army Corps in Magdeburg. He served as a
section chief in the Prussian War Ministry and served as an aide-de-camp
in Kaiser Wilhelm II's entourage from 1888 to 1892. He ultimately served
as commander of Eleventh Corps in Kassel, attaining the rank of
Generaloberst m.d.R. GFM in 1903. He became a lifetime member of the
Prussian Herrenhaus, and died in Würzburg,
Franconia in February of 1906.
