Roger Wood, Johnny Taylor and I went into the Air Force in July of 1956 under the buddy system. We stayed
together for two weeks. While in the Air Force I spent one year in Alaska above the Artic Circle. That was an
interesting experience.
After being in service, I came back to West Helena and went to work at Mohawk. It was during this time
that I met Carole Corder and we married in Oct of 1962. In 1965 we moved to Mayfield, KY to work at General
Tire and soon after moving our daughter Melissa was born. She now lives in Phoenix , AZ and works for
Alaska Airlines.
I worked at General Tire until 1981 at which time I started an Insurance and Investments business. I really
enjoy what I do and have no plans to retire.
I am very involved with my church and enjoy playing golf and ping pong.
