This bio for Jesse comes from his wife, Edna, and from his friend, Willmore Haley.
Jesse went into the Navy with William Tindall, and with Willmore right out of high school. He
was stationed on a ship along the East coast, but not in Norfolk where Willmore was stationed.
But Willmore kept up with him. Jesse was a Radioman in the Navy on a ship on the East coast.
He received some specialized training in Radio and Electrical Engineering. He was extended on
active duty for an additional year because of the specialized schooling he took.
When he came out of the Navy he worked for Monsanto and for several other Chemical
companies as an electrical engineer He met the former Edna Pierce in a dance class.
They married in a Baptist Church in Houston.. She worked for Texas Istruments for 22 years in
marketing. After they married, they moved to Missouri City, where they lived until the came to Corsicana
where they presently live.
Jesse took several college courses in Alvin, Texas, but Edna is not sure just how much. He worked for a
bio-chemical company in Alvin. He also worked in England for several years when he was working for
the Chocolate Bayou Plant in Alvin. He did a lot of traveling in that area while he was there.
Jesse purchased several lots along Richland Chambers Lake in Corsicana, Texas. He built the
house that he and Edna now occupy. Jesse has been a fisherman all his life. Jesse likes to fish
and ride the boat and jet-ski. It has been his number one pastime.
Edna says that the most important thing to Jesse is that she has a daughter and son. There are 3 grandsons. Jesse
loves the boys and they are the highlight of his life. They were borne after they married. Jesse was
at the hospital when each one came into the world.
Willmore says that he and Jesse were close friends in high school in about the 9th grade. Jesse
moved back to Texas for awhile in the 10th grade, but came back to HWH to graduate with us at
Central High. Jesse has a sister, Glenda, who has been living in Batesville Arkansas, but is in the
process of moving to Texas. Her married name is now Coke. Willmore thinks she may have
graduated from Central in the class of 1957, but is not sure.
Jesse has been diagnosed with cancer of the lungs, and will not be able to attend the re-union.
