After graduation I attended Mississippi State College for women in Columbus,
Mississippi. I returned to Helena and worked at Southern Hardware Wholesale Company as the
secretary to the owner, T.G. Miller. I met Gene Love who was attending Ouachita Baptist
University and we married in 1961.
Gene was a Lieutenant in the Army and we lived in
Oklahoma, Texas and the Netherlands. When we moved back to the states from Europe we
again lived in Texas, Kansas and Oklahoma.
We were at Fort Sill when Gene retired from the
Army so we stayed in Lawton, Oklahoma where Gene started a Defense Consulting Company,
Millennium Solutions Group, Inc. where he is currently Chairman and CEO.
We've lived in
Lawton since 1973 and Gene has been on the City Council, Mayor Pro Tem and was appointed
by Governor David Walters as the State Transportation Commissioner.
I have served on numerous boards in the Lawton community to include Red Cross, Junior League, PTA, Salvation
Army, Philharmonic Orchestra and United Way and am currently Chairman of the Memorial
Committee and a Trustee at First United Methodist Church. My main hobby is home decorating
and I worked several years with Bill Dutton Designs in Lawton and am currently renovating and
decorating our new home.
We have two children, Cyndi Ippolito who lives in New Orleans with
her husband Paul and with our only grandchild Pierce, who is eleven; and David, who lives in
Greenville, S.C. with his wife Kim.
Pierce, of course, is our pride and joy and we spend as much
time with him as we can. Pierce plans a trip for us each summer to a different place in the U.S.
He wants to visit all of the states by the time he is 20.
I'm really looking forward to seeing
everyone at the reunion.
