I married William Jerry Savell on May 31, 1956, six days after graduation. Our first child, Theresa Dianne was born on January 11, 1960, my 21st birthday. She is married and has two children, a son and a daughter. She lives in Crossett, AR. Our second daughter, Sherrie Lynn was born on June 10, 1962. She is married and has two daughters. She lives in Denham Springs, LA.

I went to work with the Kroger Company in April, 1964. I retired from Kroger in 1979 with disability from three back surgeries.

I divorced in 1977 and remarried in 1978 to William Andrew Simpson, a farmer in Snow Lake, AR. I became a farmer's wife after I retired from Kroger. I learned to drive a tractor and minor jobs even driving an eighteen wheeler. I never drove a combine though. I had almost 23 years of married life with him before his death in November, 2000. He had four children, 11 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

I had breast cancer in 2003. I went through chemo, surgery, and radiation. During a routine checkup on February 1, 2005, the doctor found 9 different "spots" of cancer in my brain. I have had 10 radiation treatments as of today, February 15, 2005. I return to the oncologist tomorrow to see when we start chemo or any other treatment.

Hope to see you in May (probably with a bald head) but God loves us anyway! J

Funeral services for Mary Ellen Simpson, 66, of Snow Lake will be held Tuesday, December 20,
2005 at 10 a.m. at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena. Visitation will be Monday
from 5-8 p.m. at RollerCitizens Funeral Home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Barton.
Mrs. Simpson passed away December 17, 2005 in Helena.
She is survived by her sister, Delilah "Dee" Nowell of West Helena; daughters, Dianne Savell
Marter and husband, John of Crossett, AR and Sherrie L. Crumby and husband, Mark of Denham
Springs, LA; grandchildren, David Marter, Kallie Crumby Kinchen, Robyn Crumby and Melissa
Marter; 4 step-children and a host of step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces and
nephews.
Mrs. Simpson was preceded in death by her husband, William Simpson, her father, Robert H.
Ramey, Sr., her mother, Thelma B. Fuller Ramey, and her brother, Robert H. Ramey, Jr.
