When I left CHS I went for two years to Mississippi State, where I Participated in track. Then I
transferred to ASU at Jonesboro. I took a degree in science from there, and also participated in
track there. I met Ruth Choate from Pocahontas while I was at ASU and we married while we
were in college. Her father ran the Ben Franklin store in Pocahontas.
After graduation I went to Deering, Missouri where I taught physics for 8 years. Then we moved
to Kennett, Missouri. There I taught science and coached track and cross country until I retired
from teaching in 1997. I continued to work with the track teams and the cross country teams
until a year ago. This is the first year I have not done anything with the teams. We won 5
straight state championships during my stay there, and had several years where we finished
second and third.
My wife Ruth also had a career teaching at Kennett. She was a Spanish teacher.
We havt two daughters, Lisa and Elizabeth. Lisa is a lab technician at the Kennett Hospital.
Elizabeth teaches speech at the High School. Lisa has a son who is at Mississippi State now.
Lisa also has a daughter named Bren, who now has a two year old daughter of her own. So I
have two grandchildren and a great grand child. Elizabeth is getting married in two months.
Right now I do not think I can make it to the reunion. But I really want to come. If I can get
some things worked out, don't be surprised to see me.
