When I left High School I went over to Tunica, Mississippi, and worked for two years. I was
working for Kroger over there. Then in two years I came back to Helena-West Helena and
worked at Mohawk for 32 years. I continued to work for them after they left here. I moved to
Salem, Virginia with Mohawk.
I went with the sell out through two other companies including Yokohama, the last company to
own them. I went to Tokyo and made several trips to other cities in Japan. I was still working
for Yokohama in Salem, Virginia in 1989, when I had a heart attack. We moved from Salem to
Myrtle Beach in 2001. We had been coming here vacationing since 1975.
I married Charlotte Fulton, who was originally from Salem. We married May 26, 1972.
Charlotte is a Registered Nurse, and is an angel to me. I tell her she can walk on water. I had
two children by my first marriage, and she had two by her former marriage. I have 5
grandchildren and one great grand child. I have some grand children in Mississippi. The others
are either in Salem or here. My great grand child is Gage Sugg. He is here with me now.
I would really like to be with all of you at the reunion, but my health will not permit me to make
that trip now. In addition to the heart attack I have had several strokes. I have had diabetes
since 1976, and my Doctor tells me that I am lucky to be here now.
