1 Our 50th anniversary celebration was hosted by our daughter, Susan McLendon, and our son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Nancy McLendon, in Greenville, SC, August 26, 2006. There were 29 family and friends attending the weekend festivities with the highlight being the dinner at Giorgio's Trattatoria and Garden.

9 This was my surprise gift from my sister, Mary. Years ago I had gotten this picture at one of Elvis's shows at the Catholic Club. I stood in line to get his autograph and when it was my time for him to autograph the picture, Elvis said in that wonderfully deep voice, "And what would you like to have me write for you, little darlin'?" For the first time in my life I was speechless. - Heart-pounding, guppy gasping to the point of fainting- speechless. So I did a stupid thing, I turned right around and left the building without letting him sign my picture or, for that matter, passing out dead away. So my Elvis picture does not have my name on it. Story, part I.

10 Story, part II. Since the picture did not have my name on it, when I left on my honeymoon without my beloved picture of Elvis, Mary Margaret thought that it was fair game and immediately confiscated it. Lo, these many years it has been under lock and key in her personal safe in VA. I was apprised of this fact last year at her home when she decided to "come clean." Since Mary was trying to make amends for this long held secret, I told her she could keep it for a while longer. So tonight Elvis has finally come home to Mama!
