Director Biography
Dr. Vance, a native of Louisville, KY., is in his 19th year teaching. Dr. Vance received his Bachelor's & Master's in Music Education from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL. In 1996, he received his Doctor of Education degree from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
Dr. Vance, having taught in several school systems in Alabama, has experience in all levels of education including teaching at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, AL. His expertise includes lesson planning, curriculum development, and band rehearsal effectiveness. He is a member of the Memphis City Schools curriculum development, in-service planning and implementation team. His most recent accomplishment is having been selected as one of only three MCS teachers to make a presentation at the Mid-West International Band & Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, IL. Dr. Vance holds memberships in the West Tennessee School Band & Orchestra Association (WTSBOA), as well as The Music Educators National Conference (MENC).
