ASHTON SINCLAIR

PEDDLER EXTRAORDINAIRE

with items to sell from the common to the rare!

Here's a sketch I made to show approximately how Ashton looks. I wanted to determine how humanoid vs animaloid he is. I want him to be looking pretty much like a large version of the animal but on his hind legs. But at the same time, I want him to be able to do things pretty much as a human would. So I needed the arms and legs a bit more humanoid, yet retaining the animal "look". I think this sketch comes pretty close to that. I have to redo the head: needs to be smaller with a more pointy nose and need to correct the "mask" markings.

Next I'll have to sketch him with his clothes on! And then the peddler wagon could probably use a sketch as well. Plus I think I'm going to include a photo that shows the instruments he plays.

A sketch of Ashton

Ashton is a man who's been cursed into a raccoon form with some of the animal's instincts beginning to affect him a bit, as well. He still thinks of himself as a man, as this is a fairly recent change for him. So he still approaches life as a man would.

For the most part the animal body is able to let him live as a man would, but at times he is surprised by some raccoon-ness cropping up! One factor making the change a bit easier for him is that he has an enormous curiosity about everything! He also is very practical.

Ashton is naturally cheerful--a positive, "the glass is half full" person. He will take the time and effort to help someone else if he can. An intelligent, mostly self-taught and continuously self-teaching individual, he is creative, and values reading and writing. He almost always has a notebook and pen handy and is often seen jotting down short poems or prose, song verses, or ideas and thoughts he's had. He learns languages easily, as that allows him to travel and peddle his wares in a greater variety of places.

Very musically inclined, he picks up on new music and musical instruments fairly quickly and easily. He plays the pennywhistle, the side blown simple flute, and the recorder. He also plays the violin but does not currently have one. He loves Irish/Scottish style folk music.

He is also about to learn to play percussion instruments such as the djembe drum, the kora (a harp/lute type instrument), and various other African instruments. I will try to link to pictures and sound samples for these instruments.

He is variously engaged in familiarizing himself with his new circumstances and body, and exploring people, places, and ideas. And always, writing and playing his music!
