Jedediah
Jed is a young raccoon who likes to play and be happy. He's a good friend, too, and will gladly give help when it's needed.
Jed and his family live in the woods not far from the Friendly Cabin. They sleep in trees, and from high in the branches, they can see the lake down the hill from the cabins. Jed loves his mom and his sister, Jessica, who is his best friend of all. He calls her Jesse, and she loves Jed as much as he loves her. But sometimes Jed plays a little too rough, and then Jesse nips his ear to let him know she's not a girl he can push around.

Minerva
The oldest and wisest animal in the group, Minerva lives with her people in the friendly cabin. Minerva is a good listener, and she often helps her animal friends understand their feelings and their problems. Being wise, she doesn't tell them what to do but helps them figure it out for themselves.
Minerva's best friend in the woods is a young raccoon named Jed. He and his sister Jesse like to visit the Friendly Cabin for food scraps, but even though raccoons sleep during the day, Jed sometimes lingers there after daybreak hoping to meet Minerva when her people let her outside. He enjoys talking with her, and she is always happy to find him waiting for her.

Max
To see Max these days, you'd never know he was once a very sad, very frightened little dog who thought his life was over. Now, he's a happy dog who likes to run and play, swim in the lake, and be with his friends. Max's best friend is Victoria the cat, but she didn't like him at first. By clicking the link below, you can read the stories of how Max got a new family and how he became Victoria's friend.

Although he seems carefree, Max is a very good friend to anyone who is sad or upset. He remembers how it felt to be all alone and afraid.
Most of the time, though, Max is ready to have fun. He's also very brave, as you'll see if you read more about him.

Victoria
Victoria is cat-proud, and don't you forget it, but she has a secret. Victoria is the cat name she gave herself. Her real name is Fluffy, given to her by the person she loves most in all the world: her little girl, Olivia. Nobody but Olivia had better call her Fluffy, as Max the dog who is now Victoria's close friend found out when he teased her about her real name.
Victoria isn't as friendly as Jed and Max, but once you get to know her, she's much nicer than she seems at first. If you go back to the picture of all six animals on the home page, you can see how eager Max is to play. His front paws are up on the log, his mouth is open, panting, and he's ready for fun. Victoria is sitting still and looking down at Max, acting like she's not so sure she wants to play with him at all and might be wishing he'd go away and leave her alone. If you look closely, though, you'll see she isn't looking away from Max, and you might be able to tell she likes him and is only pretending she doesn't want to be bothered.

Woodrow
Everybody likes Woodrow, and his friends all call him Woody, but Woody has a problem: he doesn't like himself. He is ashamed of being a woodchuck (or groundhog, another name for the same animal). He says woodchucks are timid and frightened, and he wants to be tougher and braver like his friend Jed, the raccoon.
One day Woody decided he would stop being a woodchuck and be a raccoon instead. To find out what happened then, click the link below and read more about him.

Nick
Nick is a little dog who gets excited and barks too much. At first, the other animals left when they heard Nick coming because his yapping got on their nerves. Nick knew he annoyed the others, and it made him sad that nobody wanted to be his friend, but he just couldn't stop yapping so much. Max was the one who stayed and became Nick's first friend, and then Minerva decided she would make herself be the little dog's friend, too. It is hard for Minerva because she's an adult dog, and Nick gets so excited that he can't stop barking and jumping around, but she is a kind dog and wants to help him calm down and give others a chance to get to know him and like him.
