JO ANNE EDWARDS, trumpet. BA, Eastman School of Music, graduate study in trumpet performance at the University of Connecticut, MLS Syracuse University. JoAnne studied trumpet with Sidney Mear, Edwin Betts and Daniel Patrylak and was instructor of trumpet at New England Music Camp. She has performed with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony, Vermont Symphony, Lyric Theatre, American Musical Theater, and is Principal Trumpet in the Vermont Philharmonic. She is a founding member of the Constitution Brass Quintet (1983) and a librarian at Johnson State College.
CHRIS RIVERS, trumpet. A native of Vermont and a graduate of South Burlington High School, Chris attended The Crane School of Music and The Florida State University earning degrees in Music Education. His teachers include Anthony Maiello and James Croft. Chris is band director at Harwood Union High School where he earned honors as Teacher of the Year for the 1996-97 school year and his program received an award in 2003 from the GRAMMY Foundation as a National Signature School in Music. He performs with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and Brass Quintet and resides in Waterbury Center, with his wife and three children.
TOM WHITNEY, French horn. Tom earned BS and BA degrees from the University of New Hampshire. As an engineering student, he maintained a music concentration studying with Keith Polk at UNH and has also studied with Marilyn Panasevich in Boston. Tom is Co-Principal Horn in the Champlain Philharmonic Orchestra and performs with Vermont Winds, Hinesburg Artist Series, Stowe Theater Guild, and several other local groups. He is currently Chief Engineer for Vermont Mechanical and resides in Hinesburg.
JOHN MEAD, trombone. John holds degrees from Ithaca College, UVM, and the University of Kentucky. He was professor of music at Marshall University in West Virginia for 31 years, and previously taught at UVM, Georgetown College and the University of Kentucky. He was principal trombone in the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra and has performed with other orchestras in many states and countries. He retired to Monroe, NH where he plays in local town bands, Maple Leaf Seven, Hanover Chamber Orchestra, and is Principal Trombone in the Vermont Philharmonic.
BILL KECK, tuba. BME, Eastman School of Music, MME, VanderCook College of Music. Bill studied tuba with Arnold Jacobs and was principal tuba with the Mexico City Philharmonic while teaching at the National Conservatory of Music. His extensive background includes performances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the New York City Ballet Theaters, and the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra. He has toured internationally with 'Emerson, Lake and Palmer.' He became a member of the Constitution Brass Quintet in 1992 and is the instrumental music director at Montpelier High School.
