Welcome to the Ashland Elementary Gifted Center! Two resource teachers work with Ashland's gifted students on a weekly basis.  Mrs. Melissa Edmonds works with potentially gifted students in kindergarten through third grade in the START Program.  Ms. Kimberly Mayne works with fourth and fifth grade gifted students in the SIGNET program.  Both teachers also serve as a resource to classroom teachers by providing instructional support and strategies, feedback on student progress, and assistance in the identification of gifted students.

Students leave their regular classrooms each week and come to the resource rooms for special units of study appropriate for gifted students.  In addition, students in second through fifth grades spend at least a third of their resource class time engaged in independent study on the topic of their choice.
