Biography
Jeff has written about astronomy for more than 25 years. His love of astronomy dates back to his days in the Corpus Christi (Texas) Astronomical Society, where he earned Messier certificate number 55. He earned his journalism degree with honors from the University of Texas at Austin, and has been working at the intersection of astronomy and journalism ever since.
His experience includes stints as editor-in-chief of StarDate magazine and as managing editor of Astronomy magazine, as well as the inaugural skywatching columnist for SPACE.com. His writing has appeared in varied outlets including Nature, Sky & Telescope, New Scientist, and Earth & Sky.
Jeff now writes from his home in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC, where he lives with his wife, Alexandra Witze of Nature; Angie the black dog; and a 15-inch Obsession Dobsonian telescope.
