Painting a Zzipper fairing
It's a pretty simple, but laborious process: since I prefer to paint on the inside, any design or graphic must be painted on from the top (most visible) to bottom (background). I start by removing the fairing and cleaning it as thoroughly as I can: soap & water, followed by adhesive remover (for any tape adhesive), followed by alcohol. The sticky stuff is always tough- I usually have to work over an area 3 or 4 times to get it off. After that, I mask off the graphic elements (in this case the yellow stripes) and cover the rest of the fairing in paper. Don't trust the spray to only stick to one side- it'll move around and attach to any unsheilded area. This is what it looks like after the masking paper is removed.
