The catalog illustration above shows a 1911 LeBlond "quick change" lathe with double back gears. My LeBlond is similar but dated by LeBlond from the serial number at 1919, with single back gear and 9-foot bed.
LeBlond was founded in 1888 and bacame one of the most respected manufacturers of heavy-duty and specialty production lathes in the US. Prior to the introduction of the "Regal" lathes in 1930, LeBlond made two basic series: the standard (which I have) and the "heavy duty", as well as a number of specialty machines designed primarilly for the auto industry.
Currently in pieces, my lathe is being retrieved (a bit at a time) from a trailer about 30 miles from home.
