351-C Exhaust

I bought the Hooker Competition Headers (HOK-6913) and Flow Master Dual Exhaust Kit (FLO-17273) from Summit Racing. The headers are designed for a 351-C, 2V in a 1967 Mustang. The Flow Master Kit is designed for a 1964-1967 Mustang and comes with an "H-pipe". I put the headers on the engine (still on the stand), set the "H-pipe" in front of it and took a few photos. As you can see they are different widths. So I need to get "S-pipes" to bridge the gap. I installed the exhaust in the car and measured the distance from the end of the "H-pipe" to the engine mounts. Similarly, I measured the distance from the end of the headers to the engine mount on the engine. The "H-pipe" is 5" narrower than the headers and there is a maximum of 12" to make the "S" to connect them. This means I have to cut about 10" from the "H-pipe". I haven't done it yet.

Summit Racing has some Hedman extensions (Summit p/n HED-18804). These reduce from 3" to 2.5" and have a nice mandrel bent "S-shape". The pipe is a 2 1/2" diameter with a 4" offset. The difference in between the pipes is 2.375" on each side. So, the 4" offset means the H-pipe will be dropped by 3.2". {Use Pythagorean's Theorem, in reverse: (3.75)(3.75)+(x)(x) = (4)(4). Solve for x = 3.2} Now I have to see how low the pipe is when it drops 3.2 inches.

This is what you get in the Flow Master FLO-17273 exhaust kit, and below shows the Hedman HED-18804 reducers kit from Summit Racing.
