Course Description:

This course provides an overview of the philosophical and educational foundations of library and information science and the development of professional theory and practice. The course includes an examination of the historical background of various types of libraries and information services, including their functions and responsibilities as well as current trends and challenges in their management and development.

Students are also introduced to the professional literature, library and information organizations/associations and core library terminology/acronyms.
