Harrigan Heritage Page This is a skeleton history of the three brothers I have been researching: Michael, Patrick, & Daniel Harrigan. For further info on their descendants click on their name. I do choose to keep "living" individuals unnamed for their own privacy. If you are a Harrigan descendant, please check my Am I Looking For You? page. ** I would like to recognize that the descendants of another Michael Harrigan (who married Susan Lawless) claim this position in this family. I agree that he must be related, but due to the obituary that's been passed through my family to my father, I have to believe that the following Michael Harrigan is the brother of Daniel of St. Paris and Patrick of Urbana, and therefore the son of Patrick Harrigan and Bridget Casey. 1. Michael2 Harrigan (Patrick1) was born 6 Jan 1839, probably at Kilkee, County Clare, Ireland. Michael died 10 Jan 1913 . Mrs. Sally Bean reported finding his burial record at St. Mary’s Cem., Dunkirk, but St. Mary’s corresponded that they had no such record. Michael married Margaret Daley, 10 Jan 1866 at Champaign Co., OH. Margaret was born in 1839 in Ireland, the daughter of Martin Daily. She died 10 Sep 1920 Her burial place is unknown. Anyone know anything about
Margaret Daley? Michael and Margaret are recorded in the 1880 US Federal Census at North Washington Village, Hardin Co., OH. In the 1910 US Federal Census at they are recorded at Blanchard Twp., Hardin Co., OH as a grain farmer. Michael can read and write and owns his own residence. In the 1920 US Federal Census Margaret is living with her daughter, Beatrice, and son-in-law, Grover French, at Blanchard Twp., Hardin Co. She is 83 years old and lists her birthplace as Ohio. Michael’s obituary from an unknown newspaper reads: "Michael Harrigan died at his home on West Wayne St., Friday morning January 10, 1913, aged 74 years and four days. Mr. Harrigan was born in Ireland January 6, 1839 and when very young he came to America and settled in Logan county, Ohio and he moved from there to Hardin county about thirty five years ago, residing most of that time in Dunkirk. "Mr.
Harrigan has been ill for many months and was a long and patient sufferer.
The funeral services were held at the Catholic church at Kenton Ohio, Rev
Father Shoemaker officiating. Interment
in St Mary’s Cemetery. "Besides
a host of friends and acquaintances, he leaves to mourn a wife, one daughter,
one son, two grandsons and two brothers, Dan Harrigan of St Paris and Patrick
Harrigan, of Urbana, Ohio. "Those attending the funeral from a distance were Joe Harrigan, wife and son Jack, of North Baltimore, O. Leslie Koontz and wife of Toledo, O., Dan Harrigan of St Paris, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick of Urbana, Ohio, M Bray and [sic] son John of Bellefontaine, Ohio." Children of Michael Harrigan and Margaret Daley are:
2. Patrick2 Harrigan (Patrick1) was born Mar 1842 probably at Kilkee, County Clare, Ireland. Patrick married Mary Ellen Bray 4 Jul 1868 “Ellen” was born 13 Sep 1849 to Nicholas and Mary Bray. She died 21 Dec 1933 . In 1880 he reported his occupation as Laborer. In 1900 he reports his occupation as blacksmith while his sons report themselves as broom makers. In 1910, Patrick owns his home and reports that he was Naturalized in 1865. Patrick died 3 Nov 1914 . Children of Patrick Harrigan and Ellen Bray:
