Getting rid of 2003
Happy New Year to everyone! It's been kinda quiet around here lately, but I expect that things will pick up again after the holiday season. I hope to soon make some additions to the website, as well as making it a bit more interactive. Stay tuned... Also, I hope to soon post my Best Of 2003 music list here, and it would be great if others wanted to do the same.
Finally, if someone is feeling really bad about not getting a Christmas present for me, and also has $40,000 to spare, I know just the gift. I think that desk would look perfect in my apartment. While on the topic of Space Ghost, I've recently noticed that Cartoon Network is broadcasting new episodes of Space Ghost Coast to Coast during Adult Swim on Sunday nights at 11:30. If you haven't seen this before, it's really worth staying up to check out. The humor is a bit strange, but SG tops Letterman any day, in any galaxy.
Happy Holidays!

Canadians tax MP3 players
Rebecca found this article about a new Canadian levie on all MP3 players sold in that great country to the north. The amount of the levie is linked to how much memory the player has. I certainly agree with Becca's comment of "What up??"

Tom & Jerry
Last night, I saw some music history with Jessica at the Fleet Center. Simon & Garfunkel put aside their differences long enough to make a few million each and unite the generations. There were several septuagenerians in attendance, as well as many kids under ten. Most folks appeared to be in their 40s or thereabouts. Jessica is the true fan, but I gained a deeper appreciation for what a treasure those guys are for our country. It seems as though all of their songs take on big themes and render them with sensitivity. I have a renewed appreciation of some truly American songs. Last night made me feel like our nation really has contributed something great to world culture.

Vandalism or Consumer Awareness?
These guys had an interesting idea of Black Friday shopping. I'm all for this.

Poor Keef
Keith apparently has something to say about Mick's knighthood. Seeing all these rock stars (Paul McCartney, Elton John) being knighted is sorta amusing.

You think American pop music is bad . . .
Just a quick note to tell everyone that I am back safe from Taiwan. As the title suggests, the popular and rock music scene in Taiwan is poor. The Chinese love very loud and bright things. Their pop music reflects this. Just imagine Britney at 110 decibels very washed out, an octave higher, and distorted almost beyond recognition. This presentation was supposed to make me want to buy more stuff. It usually left me nauseous. The best record shop I could find was in a film museum. The Tower Records there was just painfully understocked. I did pick up a couple things that I'll be playing for us at the next meeting, however. The theme for the trip was disorientation--I'll explain more at the next meeting.
