Chris Mule's MiM Mission Statement

what is happening to this blog?
None of us has made an entry since April 6. Jerad, Susan, Jessica and I attended a lovely concert given by a band called Stereolab. Clearlake opened for them. We all agreed that Clearlake was pretty boring, especially when juxtaposed to Stereolab and their 8 musicians on stage. What other band has a lead singer who also punctuates the songs with a trombone? There was also trumpet, french horn and maybe a flugel horn. Almost all the brass were there. The sad thing is that the band's keyboardist died last year in a biking accident in England. Her presence, especially in the singing, was missed. Susan pointed out that some of her vocal parts were taken by the french horn. An interesting trick for a band that has relied heavily on female vocal harmonies in its music. What do you do when one of the women dies and only one woman remains? Answer: french horn. And, just in case you thought that stardom brings riches, the bassist from Stereolab was hawking T-shirts and mugs near the front door. First, I thought it was the Clearlake bassist, but it was actually the Stereolab guy. I mean, this band has at least 8 albums and several EPs, etc. One final note: this show was ear-bleedingly loud. I'd say it was about as loud as the VanHalen show I saw in the 80s. Ouch.
