View of peninsula valance framework. The strip at the top was an aid to laying out the supports along the curve at the end. The vertical with the clamp doesn't have it's diagonal brace yet nor does the one on the left out of view.

All the valance framework is in: you can see the framework for the valance for the long wall on the left.

Most of the wood that might be seen is primed: the blue you see is re-used wood from the original 1x2 L-girders where you see the tan stripe on the wall to the left and back.

View of a corner bar being laminated up. When dried, it will be mounted to the bottom of the verticals and spliced to 1" x 2"s as seen on the right. Masonite was used for the 90 degree corners as it flexes better.
View of a laminated bar made of strips ripped from a 2" x 10" plank. It will be mounted on the other side of the verticals and flush with the bottom. I ran out of clamps to show it in it's proper position as the others were employed in lamimating the corner strip in the above pic.

Laminating the lower bar on the valance

Finished!

Not exactly the "golden spike" but the valance panels are all in now and I can move on to the next stage of construction.

I'll probably work on the lighting next then the clouds on the backdrop.

Inside of peninsula

The lights will mount to the bar at the top of the white field at about 2ft intervals - about 2ft above the track.

The backdrop for the peninsula will be down the center

On to the benchwork!
