Windows 8 Users:  I have spend some time at a local Best Buy playing with the computers and Windows 8.  I have found the same screens that allow the use of programs for previous of Windows on the Windows 8 system.  So the procedure below for Windows 7 should also work for Windows 8.

I have now loaded Silhouette Ballistics on my new all in one computer with Windows 8.  The procedure for Windows 7 works just fine, however it is like everything on Windows 8 just a bit more challenging.  If you can find the control panel you can load make it run.  The download from microsoft for the help program also worked fine for me.  I got the Silhouette Ballistics 21 pinned to my start screen but I have no idea how that happen.

Windows 7 Users:
I have loaded Silhouette Ballistics 21.0 on a notebook computer with the new Windows 7 operating system.  It runs just fine, however you must do a few extra steps after installing the program to make it run in Windows 7.

After installing Silhouette Ballistics and trying to run the Exterior Ballistics Program you will get a pop up window showing an error code 0x8002801c about the Msflxgrd.ocx not registered.  There are four Microsoft support programs included with Silhouette Ballistics that will cause this error.  You may use the following procedure to correct this problem.  However, you may have to be the "Administrator" on your computer.

After logging onto your computer as the Administrator, click the Windows Logo button in the lower left corner of the screen and click - Control Panel - in the pop-up menu.

Windows Seven Control Panel

Next select Programs, it has more then uninstall programs.

Programs

Under the "Programs and Features" heading select "Run programs made for previous versions of Windows".  Windows 7 will scan and fix.
Now Silhouette Ballistics Exterior Ballistic Program should run, however the built in "Help System" will not.  Press the F1 key and somewhere there will be a pop up window telling you the Help is in Windows Help Format and needs another file.  If you are connected on line select online help and Microsoft will walk you through the steps to download the needed file.
