Shimming Scopes
Iron Sight Radius: If you are changing the length of your
barrel
or using different sight radius, here is a quick and easy to use
program to
determine the minute of angle per click. Just input the sight
movement per click and sight radius and the MOA will be displayed.
Scope Mount Separation: If you want to increase the
elevation on your scope for greater range or just to center the scope
at zeroing distance, just input the minutes of angle you want to adjust
and the spacing distance of your scope mounts. The thickness of
the shim required will be displayed. If you are using Burris
"Signature" rings the program will lead you to which size inserts you
need.
I have used this many times to
determine exactly how much adjustment I need to make on scopes mounts.
Here is an article "Tapering an
One Piece Scope Base" which used this program.
Target Distance: Here is a handy program to determine
what a minute of angle equals at any shooting distance. Just
input the distance and minute of angle and the height for that angle
will be displayed.
