Tools Links

Woodworking Links

I have compiled many links over the years.  In no way do I intend for this to be a thorough list of all available woodworking-related links.  This is just a list of my personal favorites.

[Power Tools]  [Woodworking Supplies]  [Dust Collection]  [Hardwood Dealers]  [Bits & Blades]
[Books & Videos]  [Discussion Forums]  [Magazines]  [Television Shows]  [Manufacturers]  [Personal Pages]  [Informational]

Power Tools: These are some of my favorite places to shop...

  • Woodworker's Depot: Good people to work with in Wisconsin.  I bought my Porter-Cable 7518, BN200, and 557 from them.

Woodworking Supplies:  Come on!   There's more to woodworking than tools...

  • Woodcraft: The "Toys R Us" for woodworkers.
  • Rockler: Woodworking supplies, project plans, hits, hardware.
  • Lee Valley: Veritas tools and woodworking supplies.
  • McFeelys: Square drive screws and supplies.
  • W.L. Fuller: Drill bits, countersinks, counterbores, & plug cutters.

Dust Collection: Gotta protect them lungs...

  • Oneida Air Systems: Dust Collection Cyclones, fitting & pipe, flex hose.  These people are truly great to deal with.  A+ on Customer Support.
  • Air Handling Systems: Top quality dust collection fittings, pipes, and flex hose.   Visit their site for a free shop layout.

Hardwood Dealers:  Wood by mail?  Yep...

  • MapleLeaf Hardwoods: Curly maple, cherry, oak, and birch.  They also sell domestic hardwoods/softwoods as well as figured maple sets.
  • Badger Hardwoods: Domestic hardwoods and softwoods, moldings, baltic birch ply and hardwood plywood.  They also provide tool sharpening.
  • Steve Wall Lumber: Domestic and exotic hardwoods/softwoods, furniture plywood, hardwood flooring, and mouldings.

Bits & Blades:  Router Bits, Saw Blades, Planer Blades, etc...

  • Jesada: Top of the line router bits.

Books & Videos:  Get smart, read a book...

  • Woodbooks: Never bought anything here, just looked.

Discussion Forums:  Share you ideas, questions, or concerns on a forum...

  • Woodcentral:  Another excellent site: discussion forums, "Shop Shots" (upload your finished project), chat room, and much more.
  • Woodsmith Forums:   General Woodworking, Tools, Home Improvements, and a Tools Swap N' Sell Forum.

Magazines:   Forget about Sports Illustrated, get a Real Man Magazine...

  • Woodsmith: One of my favorites: no ads...just plans and articles.
  • ShopNotes: Another one of my favorites.  If you like making jigs, you'll love this.
  • Wood: "Why did I get that 2 yr. subscription again?"  Seriously, Wood packs a lot of information, but a good portion of it is in advertisements (some non-woodworking related!) and craft-like projects.  I wish they would just stick to woodworking, and not include articles like basket-weaving.
  • Woodshop News: I read this at the newsstand.   A lot of good information concerning the wood/woodworking industry.
  • American Woodworker: Ever since it was acquired by Reader's Digest, it just hasn't been the same.  I used to enjoy my subscription, now I peruse through it at the newsstand.

Television Shows:  Move the couch to the shop, Norm's on...

  • The Woodwright's Shop: I go back and forth on liking this guy.  Would he just pick up a darn power tool already!!

Manufacturers:   Get tool info, news, and dealer info...

  • Jet: Stationary tools.
  • Delta: Stationary tools.
  • Powermatic: Stationary tools (recently bought out by Jet).
  • General: Canadian made quality tools.  Also features an import line, General International.
  • Grizzly: Manufacturer direct import tools.
  • DeWalt: That pretty yellow tool!
  • Jointech: Saw-Train, Clincher system, router bits, and router table accessories.
  • Senco: Top-quality pneumatic tools.

Personal Pages:  Some other friendly, informative pages...

  • A few of my Internet buddies:

Mark Goodall: A visit to this site to read the "Everybody's Free to Woodwork" will keep you laughing for hours.  Mark also provides a How-To section, tool reviews, links, as well as pictures of his shop and projects.

Bill Grumbine: Bill is a professional wood turner.  His site contains many pictures of some of his turned work and a boat he recently built.

KC Constable: This page is filled with completed projects from a very accomplished woodworker.  My personal favorite: the cherry slant-top writing desk.

Rod Peterson: The Master Woodbutcher's site offers many woodworking (and non-woodworking) related articles for your reading pleasure, a shop tour, tips, and Rod's fascination with Norm's tools.

  • Joe Woodworker: Joe's got a great site for learning how to build a vacuum press!

Informational:   Random pages that contain interesting info...

  • Woodweb: Internet resource for the pros.
