Gensimer / Gensimore Family History

This page is dedicated to the research of the history of the GENSIMORE / GENSIMER families of Huntington, Blair and Centre Counties in Pennsylvania.

The first mention found in historical records of the family within this area is from the History of Huntington and Blair Counties by J. Simpson Africa, 1883,on page 269 " The Gensimer, Pat. Madden, Dysart, Plum Bottom, Stewart, Seeds, and other farms are parts of the London Company's land, and were warranted in 1766."

The next known mention was within the 1820 Census where John Gensimer was listed with 10 in the household. He died later between March 9 and April 8, 1833 in Franklin Township, Huntington County, Pennsylvania. His will {Will Book #3 Pages 402 & 403 Huntington County} lists his wife Elizabeth and seven of his children. This shows the location of his farm in Warriorsmark and if you look at an atlas you'll find that there is a GENSIMORE RUN Creek in Huntington and Blair Counties.
