2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP
GTP means this car has a supercharged version of the 3.8L V6. 240 hp
@ 5200 rpm, 280 lbs-ft of torque @ 3200 rpm. 0 - 60 in 6.7 seconds. I
bought the car from a dealer on Sept 5, 2001, with 17K miles on it.
It's fully loaded: leather, Bose/Delco CD 10-speaker, moonroof, and
heads-up display.
Current mods
- 3.4" supercharger pulley (stock is 3.8"). Raises boost 2-3
psi to 10-11 psi max
- SLP CAI (Cold Air Induction) kit with K+N cone air filter
- BMR strut tower brace (front)
- Buick Regal GS strut tower brace (rear)
- Lotek triple A-pillar gauge pod - boost, oil pressure, volts
- 12" Olds Intrigue HD front brake conversion
- Impala police package front and rear swaybars
I dynoed the car stock and it made 200 hp at the front wheels in 2nd
gear. That is pretty close to 240 hp at the engine, since the
drivetrain loss in 2nd will be higher than in 3rd. I could not
dyno in 3rd because apparently this car is speed limited to approx 106
mph in 3rd gear. Very strange, since that is not the redline in
3rd. I can only assume it's because GM didn't want a 6000 rpm
upshift into 4th. Speed limit in 4th is 126 mph, probably because
the car comes with H-rated tires. I have not dynoed the car with
the mods. The pulley and CAI should take the car to about 275 hp.
