STANDARD TARART LAYOUT

After randomizing the cards as best you can, lay the cards out in the standard Hertzsprung-Russell configuration. Four cards are placed face down in the Cardinal Positions around a center or Primary Card, also face down. The first card is placed in the upper left then one to the lower left, then upper right then lower right and finally one in the middle. The Cardinal cards have Suit Magnifiers of upper right = Heart, upper left = Mind, lower right = Body and lower right = Self. Cards of like suits to their Cardinal placement are extra sweet. This forms your Personal Quadrangle. Four more cards, or The Baseline, are laid face down along the bottom of the Personal Quadrangle. The Baseline cards also have a Suit Magnifiers of, left to right Self, Body, Mind, Heart. Cards of like-suits to their Baseline placement are also extra sweet. So far you've got 9 cards face down that represent your hidden truths and you don't know anymore than you did when you started. But now the fun begins.

 

Place one card face up on each of the cardinal positions, in the same order. Don't jump to any conclusions just yet. The Primary Card is moderated by the next four cards placed face up on the Baseline. The Modifiers specify what kind of attributes to add to the Primary Card. For instance if your Primary is 'Saint' and the Baseline Body Modifier is 'Comfort' then it can be inferred that you are an extra-high level Heart with little motivation and because the Comfort/Body card falls on the 'double down' Body Baseline position, it amplifies the significance of the Comfort card. Obviously a face card falling on the Primary is of particular significance. Look upon it with fear, dread and awe.

 

Cards that are upside down (i.e. black bar on top)... see the JK-Body(The Soldier) on the Baseline... are the inverse of their assigned value. Inverted like-suits on like-Cardinal or like-Baseline positions still double down, only in an inverted way. And there you have it. Interpret what you see as best fits the cards displayed. The human mind's amazing ability to see patterns where none exist will do the rest.

 

These instructions were compiled from the recently discovered "Owens Lake Scrolls", a spiral notebook possibly written by Madam Misty Green detailing the use of the Tarart Deck. It is presumed that Madam Green buried it during her hasty departure from the "Adobe Trailer" outside Olancha CA. The first three pages were missing or indecipherable. A portion of Page 2 was said to have been recovered by the shore of Lone Pine Lake suggesting that Madam Green made her getaway over the High Sierras, or she may still be living on the slopes of Mt Whitney, but this was never proven. The constant over-flights by military aircraft suggest that the US Government is still searching for her there.
