In Memory of My Oldest Younger Brother

Dale Allen Martin
April 1, 1957 - September 9, 1992
Still miss you a lot Man; it's been 16 years.
You
helped me more Bro' than you ever knew
No one ever knew you were my speech therapist and helped me get rid of the lisp I had in the 6th grade.
I
Love Ya Man!
Bubba, I'll always remember the "Round spoons" and the "Smashed
spoon" and how we used to fight over getting the “smashed spoon.”
Each of us always wanted the "smashed spoon," I guess there was
only one.
You always called me "Mim" when we were really young
We called you "Daley Whaley," Sometimes I wonder if Grandpa Nelson came up with that.
Grandpa always called me Jim Jam
when we really young.
How about the time, in 1960, when we were fighting over the lawn sprinkler in
Twenty-Nine Palms
and I let go of it when one of the jets broke the sound barrier....It was God
talking. Hehehehehe.
Well...it wasn't really funny then!
I often think about the duplex log cabin you
and I built together with
Lincoln Logs when we lived in Quantico.
Yup, it was pretty cool
I'll never forget the day you met Michelle. She and I were driving down Route 38
in Tewksbury when we saw you pulled over to the side
of the road. I said to her, "Hey, that's my brother Dale!" You had a
bee in your car and I helped you to get it out of there. Hehehe.
We used to sneak out of the house, through our
bedroom window, at two in the morning when we
lived in the Tarawa Terrace housing at Camp Lejeune
in North Carolina. You were
nine and
I was ten
and we snuck out to go fishing at the pier. You caught some pretty good fish then,
flounder...and you even snagged a decent sized crab.
Thanks for letting me borrow your bike in North
Highlands....even when you didn't know.
Remember I used to brag about never having been
spanked by Grandpa? Well that was true
Until the day in his back yard I tossed the plastic
dinosaur across the table and hit you in the face with it.
DOH! I guess you and Grandpa are laughing that up now, aren’t you? Hehehe.
The one thing I wish most for the two of us is that we had more time to get over our differences.
But, I guess where you are now you understand why I felt the way I did about everything, someday I will too.
I found out by accident that you worked with some friends of
mine when you were at DEC in Woburn and
in Tewksbury. Jim, Ken
and Dave. They are ham radio operators...we've known each other since
1993.
I hope God lets you use His drafting table.
Just one favor though, please don't try to redesign heaven if God does allow you to use His drafting table.
We ALL really miss you Dude!
Wish you were still around to help clear up a very big misunderstanding and I believe you know all about it.
Still Luv Ya Man!!
