Note! Edward's will makes no mention of a son Thomas.
This Thomas is shown as being born in 1716 and having a death date of 1762.
He would only have been 11 years old at the time of the will. Much too young to have done something to cause him to be dis-owned. I FEAR WE HAVE ASSIGNED THIS THOMAS TO THE WRONG FAMILY.

============================================================================
Edward Pennington died in 1728, and his will in Book 3, page 799, names sons Edward, John, and Edmund and wife Tabitha: Sometime between then and 1729, John New married Edward's widow, Tabitha. This is evidenced in Book 3, page 969, by the fact that a supplemental inventory and appraisal of the Estate of Edward Pennington, deceased, was presented by John New and Tabitha New on 17 September 1729."
5. John Pennington was born about 1691 in Surry Co., VA. He died about 1766. The family of John and Phillis is listed in Pennington Pedigrees 24-2, pg 10.
The will of John Pennington was probated 19 June, 1766 (Sussex County Will Book B. 78) refers to "my beloved wife Philiss". John Pennington left a respectable estate, giving a plantation to each of his two living sons, plus 20 slaves and numerous cattle, horses, hogs, and sheep, to be divided amongst his heirs. Each of his daughters married "Wrens".
There were two wills probated on 6/19/1766 in Sussez Co., VA. One is the one mentioned here and the other is of John's nephew, John, son of his brother Edward, known as "the carpenter". It is not known if the two Johns died together as the result of a common accident or separately of natural causes and we will probably never find out.
He was married to Phyllis Forte (daughter of Elias Forte) in 1713. Phyllis Forte died in 1765. John Pennington and Phyllis Forte had the following children:
+17 i. Moses Pennington (born about 1715).
+18 ii. John Pennington (born about 1718).
+19 iii. Joseph Pennington (born about 1720).
+20 iv. Hannah Pennington (born about 1722).
+21 v. Sarah Pennington (born about 1724).
The family of John and Phillis is listed in PP24-2, pg 10.
