This is another view from Passo di Gardena. The mountains tend to be more
craggy in the Dolomites than in the Swiss or Austrian Alps. It had rained
sometime during the night, so the roads were a little wet in places where the
sun hadn't gotten to. It was fairly cold up here in the morning, so I was
glad for the heated handgrips.

There were other motorcyclists out enjoying the Alpen roads.

Mountains in the mist...
From here, we rode over Passo di Campolongo, through Arabba, then south...

We were planning on having lunch at this little place (in the background) near
Passo di Pellegrino, but it was closed. So we rode a little further and had
lunch in Soraga. From there we rode through Val di Egga, which is a beautiful
narrow canyon with sheer walls. During the day, we got just a little bit of
rain. When we got back to the hotel, we had ridden about 180 KM.

The weather started out nice enough today. We headed east to Barbian and from
there, over some really narrow winding roads to Vanga. Soon the clouds and
fog were rolling in, which was a shame, since there was a point on the road
that would have had some outstanding views high over Bolzano. This is our
first coffee stop, I think somewhere near Ponticino. Shortly after we left
here, it started raining. We continued on over Passo di Pennes (also known as
Penserjoch).
