This is a view from the roof of  the Univ. of Nashville Children's Museum) toward Second Ave. Notice that "Hap Towne's Pie Wagon" is visible through the trees across the street.  Everyone referred to the restaurant as "Hap Townes" but the official name was Townes and Russell Restaurant. Galloway Hostpital (now Metro Offices) appears to the left.  The building in the background with the  smokestack is the old Gerst Brewery on 6th Ave.  Notice that the old Howard School bell from the old building is in the front on the right. This bell was moved to the north side of the front  campus later. Click here for a present day view of the Bell.  You may click on the Galloway Hospital link in blue for a history.
