The Idiot Index

I was searching for the phrase "George Bush is an idiot", when I thought of the idea of applying that idiotic appellation "idiot" to his successor. So I started with "Barack Obama is an idiot" and came up with 2270 hits. I found one that said "Obama is an idiot Ron Paul is an idiot Hillary…" and clicked on it. I found out that someone else has come up with my idea. J. Clifford came up with the idea of Googling the phrase "x is an idiot" for all x equal to a 2008 Presidential candidate. This should help determine who's the biggest idiot.

He has found that Hillary Clinton is the biggest idiot among all of the 2008 Presidential candidates. This Hillary idiot came up with 7,630 hits. Actually this is unfair in a way. The more well known a candidate is, the more likely someone will comment on him or her, and the more likely he or she will be called an idiot. Mr. Clifford searched on just the last name for some, such as Biden, who could be either Joseph or Joe. That of course will double his idiot power. Right now, I regard Hillary Clinton as the candidate most likely to win in 2008. That may explain why she's the biggest idiot. She is the most well known of them.

The interesting thing is to find out where the Idiot Index deviates from the usual ranking of the candidates. Notable is Ron Paul, the second biggest idiot with 7,420 hits. He has the most unusual platform of any of the candidates, with a strong libertarian slant. This implies that he is against the war in Iraq, and further, his energy policy is the worst of the candidates: he would simply let people settle it out through normal economic processes. I think it is because of his unusualness that he rates as so high an idiot. Also notable is the high score of John Edwards.

Who has unusually low scores? Barack Obama has the lowest score of any of the main candidates, with 2,300 hits. So if you want someone who is not going to behave like an idiot once they're elected, vote for Obama. Also note that Bill Richardson has an unbelievably low Idiot Index: only 4. He is fairly well known and has generally ranked fourth among the Democrats. So this is indeed notable. Of all the candidates, he's the biggest antidiot. I.e., people believe that he would make a sensible and reasonable President. I regard this as a point in his favor, and I think voters should consider Mr. Richardson as a candidate to vote for in the upcoming primaries. He may generate less criticism than the other candidates.

So keep track of Mr. Clifford's Idiot Index in the Irregular Times. Or find out for yourself by Googling "candidate is an idiot". Maybe this will help elect a candidate that people won't call an idiot after they take office.
