Supervisor Candidates and God
In my opinion, the Bermuda District, Chesterfield County, Virginia Board of Supervisor candidates need to address the growth problem in Chesterfield County. All other issues are trivial by comparison. But one does bother me a bit, namely the God issue. A few years ago, the Board of Supervisors would not let Cyndi Simpson provide a Wiccan invocation to the group, even though Islamic, Jehovah's Witnesses invocations had been given. I want to see Supervisors that will not bring God into the county, and hopefully don't believe in a God in the first place.
I have invented something recently called the God Index. It is defined as the total number of Google hits that a candidate's name gets divided by the number of hits that "candidate god" gets. For example, Barack Obama's God index is 1.30, and Al Gore's is 4.25. The higher the index, the lower that candidate's association with God is. So what are the God Indices of the Bermuda candidates? I had to make one modification to the definition. I added "chesterfield" in all cases to the list of search words, because there are too many Roy Wallaces in the world. Here are the results:
Ree Hart, 171 hits, 8 with god in them, index 21.4
Roy Wallace, 74 hits, 5 with god in them, index 14.8
Dorothy Jaeckle, 230 hits, 29 with god in them, index 7.93
Dorothy's low index follows Republicans' patterns of invoking God and banging Bibles. The index is higher than that for the Presidential candidates, however. Ree Hart is an active Christian, but this high index that she has suggests that religion will not play any part in her role of Supervisor if she gets elected. Another reason to vote for Ree Hart.
