Obama Has Won Virginia

The first results are now in for this historic election, and we have a winner. Barack Obama has won Virginia. It is the first time that the Democrats have won Virginia since 1964. The networks have not called it, but Barack has won, as determined by the same exit poll technique that I used in the primaries. I copy the exit poll data and then use SUMPRODUCT in Excel to reveal the projected percentages. The results are Obama 54%, McCain 45%, and other 1%.

Some people have said that if Virginia goes to Obama, it is over. Well here you see it. Obama has won the election. The rest of the evening will be Congress and Presidential confirmation.

Comments:
:The first results are now in for this historic election,

No they aren't

:and we have a winner.

No you don't

:Barack Obama has won Virginia.

No he hasn't. At least not yet.

:It is the first time that the Democrats have won Virginia since 1964.

Assuming they have actually won it, which is by no means assured right now.

:The networks have not called it, but Barack has won, as determined by the same exit poll technique that I used in the primaries.

Maybe you should wait for the *real* poll results before declaring that Barack Obama has won.

:I copy the exit poll data and then use SUMPRODUCT in Excel to reveal the projected percentages. The results are Obama 54%, McCain 45%, and other 1%.

Let's wait and see how your "projected percentages" compare to the actual final counted and verified percentages. . .

:Some people have said that if Virginia goes to Obama, it is over. Well here you see it.

I don't see it. Nor does anyone else. Only *you* see it so far. . . I will wait until all the votes have been properly counted and verified.

:Obama has won the election.

Not yet he hasn't. Most polls have not even closed yet.

:The rest of the evening will be Congress and Presidential confirmation.

It will take the rest of the evening, and possibly well into the night or longer, to be sure just who is the next President of the U.S.A. Chances are very good that it will indeed be Barack Obama but you are in no position to declare that Barack Obama has won the election, let alone won the state of Virginia just yet.

Now you can say that Obama has won Virginia and the election. The actual Virginia results as per CNN anyway were 51% Obama to 48% McCain so you were off by 3% on both of them and it was quite a bit closer than you called it.

You're barking up the wrong tree. Look at my comments on Indiana. I called the race for Obama shortly after 10 when I called Nevada for Obama. But Indiana tightened up, forcing me to retract my call of Indiana for Obama, and call it too close to call. That put Obama back under 269. It looks like Obama may have just eked out a victory there.
