A pieced Valentine . . .
You'll need two colors of fabric, a colored fabric and a background fabric.
Cut four 1-5/8
inch squares from the pink or red fabric.
Cut four 1-5/8
inch sqaures from the background fabric.
Cut six 1-1/4 inch
squares from the pink/red fabric.
Cut two 1-1/4 inch
squares from the background.
Place a background
1-5/8 inch square on top of a pink 1-5/8 inch square, right sides together. Draw a line
diagonally on the square. Repeat with the remaining three sets of 1-5/8 inch squares.
Sew parallel to
the line, 1/4" away from the line on each set of squares.
Sew parallel to
the line, 1/4" away on the other side of the line on each set of squares.
Cut each set of
squares along the pencilled line.
Fold out each
square and press. Trim off the little seam tails. The 2-color squares should be
1-1/4".
Lay out the
squares, four squares across by four rows to form the heart. See illustration for
placement of the squares.
Sew the four
blocks in each row together.
Sew the rows
together, matching seams as you go.
You're done!
