TESTMAKER.WCM is a system for creating, administering and grading online tests. As the student works through the questions, his/her responses are stored in a file on disk, along with the score. Tests can contain multiple choice, multiple answer, True/False, short answer, essay answer, or ordering questions. Included only in WP10 Set

Before you create a test, you should have the questions and possible answers at hand. To create a test, start 10TESTMAKER.WCM. The macro opens the Test Template macro file. A dialog appears with choices for types of common test questions. Choose a question type, then click OK.

If you choose Multiple Choice, the student will be able to select one answer from a list of possible answers. If you choose Multiple Answer, the student will be able to choose one or more possible answers. True/False questions allow the student to choose True or False. Short Answer allows the student to type a short answer. The answer the student provides must match EXACTLY the correct answer supplied by the test writer. Essay allows the student to type a short essay answer. Due to the complexity of this type of question, essay answers will be recorded, but not graded or scored. The Place in numerical order question type allows you to list several items that the student must place in order.

Once you have chosen a question type, a dialog will appear asking for the required information. First, type the question. In the Multiple Choice and Multiple Answer questions, you can specify up to 6 possible answers. Provide the possible answer in the order in which you want the to appear in the test. Provide the number of points the question is worth. On the Multiple Answer question, When done, click OK. The required code for the test will be inserted in the test macro. Add the rest of your questions, then click Done.

At the top of the test macro in the Initialization section, there are two items you may want to change. They are:

                        TestPath:="c:\myfiles\"

                        GetName(30)

In the TestPath command, specify the directory where you want the score file to be written. In the GetName command, specify the number of minutes you expect the test to take. This value will appear on the opening screen of the test. Save the test with any desired name.

To administer the test, copy the new test macro along with TESTMAKER.WCM to the macros directory of the testing machine. Start the macro for the student. The first thing the macro will ask for is the student's name. The name the student provides will be used to name the score file, so it is a good idea to make a note of what s/he types, or to instruct the student to type a specific identifying word that you will recognize later. After the student provides a name, the test will begin.

As the student reads and answers the questions, the input and score are written to the score file. Once the student is done, you can open the file as you would any other document, selecting ANSI Windows Text at the document conversion dialog.

TEXTBORDER.WCM creates a border containing your specified text all around the current page. Run the macro, then specify the text you want to place in the border. This text will be repeated all around the page. Select the desired font and font size. Click OK. The border will be created in four parts, one for each side of the page, and your text will be inserted. Once done, you can add your own additional text or graphics within the border.
