Susima Abeyagunawardane Captures Moon With Digital Video Camera

Susima Writes: "The moon picture was a still image saved from the video I took with my JVC camcorder attached to my Meade ETX 125 EC. The eyepiece on which the camcorder lens sat was a 40mm one. I used adaptors (the digi T and the clamp) I got from Scopetronics to firmly place the camcorder on the eyepiece and hold it in place. I also used small counter weights hanging from a ring clamp on which a camera could be mounted to ride piggy back on the telescope. I used an orange filter on the eyepiece."

"My camcorder has provision to save on a memory card images from the video tape. I then transfer the saved images to my computer and save them on zip discs. I haven't taken any pictures recently but hope to start again as soon as the weather improves - temperature wise. I have been looking at sunspots with my Meade ETX 70 EC."

More of Susima's studies of the moon with her camera / telescope setup as above.

Good Results with Modest Cost Equipment

Club member Bill Wright produced this series of images using a Mamiya 35 mm camera with Kodak 100 asa print film connected to the telescope by a T adapter with extension tube. A 2x Barlow was also used. The telescope was an 8" f/7 reflector that Bill bought at an auction for $80.00. Some lucky stiff, eh?
